How to prepare a clear customer quote
A practical guide to describing work, separating items and sharing a proposal that is easy to understand.
Define the work before the price
A good quote starts with understanding the request. Record who the customer is, where the work will take place and what result has been agreed. Make it clear if anything still needs checking on site: a precise description makes later discussions easier.
Separate materials, labour and travel
A single amount is quick to write but can be hard to explain. Separate the main components with descriptions, quantities and prices. Give the known details for a part and specify the unit used for labour. Items should reflect the actual work, without invented details to fill the document.
Read the proposal as your customer would
Make sure it is clear what is included and what would need a further agreement. Check quantities, prices, totals and contact details. Rewrite any ambiguous item before sending it. A quick review now avoids confusing explanations later.
Share it and keep a reference
With AtelierX you can link the quote to a customer and share a public link. The recipient reads it in their browser and you can find it in the program. If new requests arise, review the proposal and check that the agreement is clear before starting work.
